As you know, 2013 was packed with privacy headlines from surveillance revelations to the Internet of Things and the explosion of privacy class action lawsuits. In the spirit of looking back at 2013 “The Year of Privacy,” your IAPP Young Professional Coordinators (Lauren James and Julian Flamant) offer some readings at the end of this email.
2014 will be another exciting year in the privacy community. We have high hopes for our YP group this year. The connections we all made over the last year have led to jobs, speaking opportunities, and priceless networking contacts (and even a roommate match or two!). We are currently working with IAPP to make this group more useful, informative, and beneficial for younger IAPPers, and we welcome your ideas and suggestions.
Let’s begin with a social gathering of friendly faces. We invite you to join Lauren, Julian, and others at Laughing Man Tavern (306 G St. NW) on January 28th. We will meet at 7:45 p.m. To RSVP, please email julian.flamant@hoganlovells.
Please pass along this invitation to anyone you believe would be interested. IAPP membership is not necessary to attend the YP IAPP gathering, but a passion for privacy and a birth year after 1979ish are both recommended.
